Every year you wait, the data gets harder to recover.

Old Sage databases degrade. Machines die. Licences expire. The longer pre-2008 financial data sits untouched, the higher the risk it becomes permanently inaccessible.

movemybooks only supports Sage v14 and above. Sage themselves have no interest in helping you export from a version that stopped generating them revenue fifteen years ago. Without specialist help, that data stays locked — or disappears entirely.

"We tried movemybooks. They said our version wasn't supported. Our client has 12 years of trading history in there. We couldn't tell them it was just... gone." — Xero partner accountant
Who we help

Built for three very specific situations.

If either of these sounds like you, you're in the right place.

📊

Xero & QuickBooks partners

You have a client stuck on old Sage. movemybooks won't touch it. You can't onboard them. You can't modernise their accounting. You're stuck.

We unblock it. You get your client onto Xero. They get their historical data. Everyone wins.

🤝

Business buyers & M&A advisors

You're acquiring a business. Their financial records are locked in Sage software from 2003. You can't complete due diligence. You can't access post-acquisition reporting.

We extract the complete transaction history so you can see exactly what you're buying — and carry that data forward.

☁️

Sage Accounting (Sage Cloud) partners

Your client wants to move to Sage's own cloud platform but their data is locked in an old desktop version movemybooks won't touch. We extract it cleanly so you can bring them into Sage Accounting without losing a single year of history.

Why UnlockMyBook

We built this for the gap everyone else ignores.

There are thousands of UK businesses with financial history locked in pre-2008 Sage. Nobody was serving them. Now someone is.

🔓 Sage v8 through v13 — all of them

Every version from v8 to v13. The ones movemybooks explicitly won't support. We handle all of them, including versions from the early 2000s.

📋 Complete financial history preserved

Transactions, chart of accounts, customer and supplier records, opening balances — everything comes across. Not a summary. The whole history.

💻 No working Sage licence required

If Sage won't open, the machine is old, or the licence expired years ago — it doesn't matter. We work directly with the underlying database.

🇬🇧 UK specialists, fully remote

We serve UK businesses and accountants nationwide. Everything is done remotely — no site visits, no couriers, no risk of data in transit.

Everything accountants ask before they get in touch.

Can I migrate from Sage v13 to Xero? +
Yes. UnlockMyBook migrates from Sage v8, v9, v10, v11, v12, and v13 to Xero, QuickBooks or Sage Accounting (Sage Cloud) Online. This is the exact gap that movemybooks and most other tools don't cover — they only support Sage v14 (2008) and above.
Why won't movemybooks support pre-2008 Sage versions? +
movemybooks built their tool for the database format Sage introduced in v14 (2008). Older versions use a completely different format — Pervasive PSQL — that requires specialist tools to read. Most migration services never bothered building support for it. We did.
Does the client need an active Sage licence? +
No. We read the data directly from the Sage database using the built-in driver that Sage itself installed. Even if Sage won't open, the licence has expired, or the software is on a machine that barely works — we can still get the data out.
How long does a migration take? +
Most migrations are completed within 24–48 hours of connecting to the client's machine. The remote session itself usually takes a few hours. You receive a verified import file ready to load directly into Xero, QuickBooks or Sage Accounting (Sage Cloud).
What data is included in the migration? +
We migrate: transaction history, chart of accounts, customer and supplier records, opening balances, and contact details. Essentially everything the client has ever recorded in Sage — not just current year data.
Is the first migration really free? +
Yes. For accountants and bookkeepers referring their first client, we complete the migration at no charge. No commitment, no contract. We want you to see exactly what we deliver before you decide to work with us regularly.

Don't let 10 years of
financial history disappear.

Every day old Sage data sits untouched is another day it could be lost for good. Getting it out costs nothing to try.

🎁 First migration completely free — no commitment required
